About the circuit

The Lusail International Circuit, situated on the outskirts of Doha, was built to host Qatar’s first-ever MotoGP event in 2004. The circuit’s construction was completed in just over a year. Primarily designed for motorcycle racing, the 5.4-kilometre Lusail International Circuit is a fast and flowing track with a predominance of medium- and high-speed corners. The main straight, spanning over one kilometre of the track’s total length, offers numerous overtaking opportunities into Turn 1.In 2021, Qatar hosted the FIA Formula One World Championship for the first time. The country has signed a 10-year deal to continue hosting the sport from 2023 onwards.
