Itinerary

Kenyan Safari - Kilimanjaro to Masai Masa
Today you will depart on your overnight scheduled flight to Nairobi.
On arrival in Nairobi this morning there's time to freshen up after meeting up with the rest of the group. We'll then travel by road through this bustling city and out into the peace of the Great Rift Valley. We'll arrive at our lodge, located inside Amboseli National Park, where we'll stay for two nights. After lunch we'll set off on our first included safari in this vast, wide-open landscape, which is one of the best places in the world to see elephants, as well as a host of other thrilling wildlife, not to mention fantastic views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Sunrise is a great time to spot wild animals so stay alert as we head back into Amboseli for an early-morning safari. We'll then head back to the lodge for breakfast and a day at leisure. Why not laze around the swimming pool soaking up the sun and watching the monkeys that roam the grounds, or Amboseli National Park take in views of elephants, zebra and antelope from the garden terrace. Later this afternoon we'll take our second game drive of the day, where we can notch up more wildlife spots.
We'll enjoy an early breakfast before taking to the road and heading to the Aberdare Highlands, stopping en route for lunch in Nairobi. After checking in at our lodge, which is raised on stilts above Mount Kenya's forest canopy, the rest of the day is free. Make sure you head to the open-air viewing deck above the lodge's water hole and salt-lick, which attract a constant stream of wild animals.
Our tour continues on to Lake Nakuru today, where an overnight stay has been arranged in a lodge overlooking the shores of the lake and its surrounding national park. We'll enjoy lunch on arrival in this birdwatchers' paradise, which is home to around 450 different species. It is also where you'll discover one of the largest populations of rhino in Kenya – one of the 'Big Five', which also includes lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo. We'll see how many we can spot on a late afternoon game drive.
Today we have an early start, but the rewards come thick and fast as we drive south-west through the Great Rift Valley and into the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. It is home to an enthralling array of wildlife – and each year is the setting for the great migration, when thousands of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River to the greener pastures of the Serengeti. En route we will stop for coffee at Cafe Ubuntu, part of our Just You Cares project.
We'll arrive at our base for the next two nights, the Ashnil Mara Tented Camp, where our accommodation is in luxury tents. After an afternoon game drive, why not join your travelling companions for drinks around the bar's roaring fire before dinner. Overlooking the Mara River, the restaurant is a wonderful vantage point from which to see and hear a large, and vocal, population of hippos.
We'll head out into the bush early this morning to see even more of the Masai Mara's incredible sights. Afterwards we have a wonderful treat in store – breakfast set up in the open savannah. On arrival back at the lodge, spend the rest of the morning relaxing by the pool before a leisurely lunch and a late afternoon game drive.
After breakfast on day 8 we'll leave the Masai Mara and journey back to Nairobi, enjoying the sights as we travel through the reserve. The long drive will reward us with intriguing snapshots of daily life in Kenya as we pass through local villages – be sure to return the waves and smiles of children making their long treks to school. On arrival enjoy lunch in a peaceful garden restaurant before transferring to your Nairobi hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Morning transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
