Private Angkor Thom, Banyon, Ta Prohm & Angkor Wat Tour

Cambodia & Vietnam - Far East Multi Centre Holidays

On this tour of Angkor Thom and Bayon Temple, admire grand structures built between the 9th and 12th centuries by a Khmer empire that controlled Cambodia and parts of Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. Take in the detailed carvings of faces and elephants as well as the ruins of the Baphuon.

After meeting your personal guide and driver in Siem Reap, spend the early morning visiting the ancient capital of Angkor Thom, a walled temple complex dating back to the 12th century. See the South Gate, a main entrance with huge statues depicting the ocean and visit Bayon Temple, unique for its 54 towers decorated with more than 200 large, smiling faces of Avalokitesvara.

In the Angkor Thom complex, admire the Baphuon, ruins of a massive 3-tiered temple recently opened after years of restoration, as well as Phimeanakas, the Terrace of the Elephants, and the famous Terrace of the Leper King. Next, continue to visit Ta Prohm, which has been left relatively untouched since it was discovered, retaining much of its mystery.

Then, enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the best local restaurants before touring the remarkable Angkor Wat. Marvel at the distinctive details of classical Khmer architecture and don’t miss the opportunity to snap gorgeous pictures as you watch the sun set before returning to your hotel.

Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh is a vibrant bustling city, situated at the meeting of three rivers, the mighty Mekong, the Bassac and the great Tonle Sap, what was once considered the ‘Gem’ of Indochina. The capital city still maintains considerable charm with plenty to see. It exudes a sort of provincial charm and tranquillity with French colonial mansions and tree-lined boulevards amidst monumental Angkorian architecture. Phnom Penh is a veritable oasis compared to the modernity of other Asian capitals. A mixture of Asian exotica, the famous Cambodian hospitality awaits the visitors to the capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia.Tab content

Siem Reap is one of those places that caters to every taste. It’s difficult to get bored in this ever-evolving city. Siem Reap, for a relatively new and small city, offers an astonishing variety of cuisine, accommodation, shopping, modes of transport, and daily activities.

The central highlight is of course the Temples of Angkor – most of which are just a short trip from the centre of town. However, it would be a mistake to see Siem Reap as merely a bed for the night to allow for days at Angkor Wat. Whether it’s enjoy sipping a coffee and people-watching in the town, taking a quad bike out into the countryside, or bargaining for silks and silver in the burgeoning markets, there are plenty of reasons to extend a stay after becoming “templed out”.

Central Siem Reap and Pub Street

Although the biggest reason for visiting Siem Reap is usually the Temples of Angkor, the central shopping and restaurant area, near the old market, is developing almost on a daily basis. What can seem a sleepy town by day (because everyone is at the temples) is teeming with people in high season after sunset, with tuk-tuks and motos jostling for space on the small streets. Perhaps the most famous street in town is Pub Street – no guesses where the name comes from. Dominated by two night clubs – Temple Club and Angkor What?, it is lined with bars and restaurants, and is the go-to place for travellers looking for a large night out. For those who prefer a quieter evening, the adjoining alleys are host to a myriad of smaller, idiosyncratic establishments – many of which are just as quaint to explore in the day time as at night

If you’re preparing for your first time in Hoi An, you’ve probably already discovered that there’s so much to see and do that it can be a little overwhelming. This peaceful town was a major trading port between the 15th and 19th centuries. Today, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with beautiful temples, French colonial homes and some of the best tailors in Vietnam. Hoi An doesn’t have an airport or train station, but you can get here by taking a taxi, bus or motorcycle from Da Nang City. The old town is very walkable. Cars and motorcycles aren’t allowed on the roads in the evening, so you won’t need to worry about enduring Vietnam’s notorious traffic conditions.

Hoi An is one of the best places in Vietnam to experience the country’s rich history. Its attractions are in Riverside and Ancient Town, which makes it easy to explore on foot or cyclo. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, some of our favourite sightseeing spots include the Japanese Covered Bridge and Fujian Assembly Hall, where you can find a mix of traditional Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese architecture

When shopping in Hoi An, you’ll find that the town offers quality silk and affordable tailoring services. The Ancient Town is the best place to get custom made dresses, suits, shirts and shoes at a fraction of the price you’d pay for them back home. There’s also a local market that sells fresh produce and foodstuff. You can find plenty of fair-trade shops and non-profit charity organisations in Hoi An, with proceeds funding impoverished families and disabled locals.
