Board Rocky Mountaineer in the urban oasis of Vancouver, British Columbia, and journey through the farmlands of the Fraser Valley. From fertile greenery, the landscape transforms to the towering peaks of the Coast Mountains. You’ll see the mighty Fraser River and the raging whitewater of Hell’s Gate. Then, the landscape undergoes another transformation and you’ll find yourself amid scrub brush and desert. You will pull in to overnight at a hotel in the city of Kamloops.

Now your venture into the heart of the mountains begins in earnest. Continuing east along the South Thompson River, you’ll witness historic Craigellachie. This spot marks where the Last Spike was driven on the Canadian Pacific Railway line, uniting the nation. You’ll gaze in wonder at cascading waterfalls and at icy glaciers spilling over the lips of the peaks above, on your way to the charming alpine town of Banff and the brilliant waters of Lake Louise. And all of this craggy wilderness is yours to embrace, from the comfort of your luxurious Rocky Mountaineer coach.
On arrival in Banff, collect your rental car and take a leisurely 20-minute drive to Canmore.

Today is yours to explore Canmore and the neighbouring area. Canmore is an authentic mountain community with an impressive list of accomplished mountaineers, and Olympic athletes. Here, you can take in the one-of-a-kind boutiques, eclectic art galleries, and stunning mountain views, or take a float down the Bow River or a scenic helicopter ride. The atmosphere is quiet and laid-back.

On your drive to Lake Louise, stop off in Banff to enjoy such sights as Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka, Surprise Corner, and the Hoodoos. On your way to Lake Louise, take a leisurely drive along the Bow River to Johnston Canyon, where you can take an easy 20-minute stroll to the lower falls or a moderate 45-minute trek to the spectacular upper waterfalls.

Enjoy a morning lakeshore stroll around Lake Louise, or for the more adventurous, a hike up to the Lady Agnes Tea House (1–2 hours one way). In the afternoon, drive to Calgary through beautiful Kananaskis Country and the ranching regions of Alberta before arriving in Calgary. Enjoy admission to the Calgary Tower. Overnight in Calgary.
